[video start] Students complain that school is boring.
They go to school, they sit at a desk, they fill out worksheets.
At Edison School [of Innovation] it's an active learning environment.
Edison School of Innovation is a new charter school.
It's Kindergarten through 8th grade and we really want to teach innovation to our students, through project based learning, but we also want to teach by example.
We also write down our program codes about our program, ideas we have about our robot, and what worked and what didn't.
And your designs, and your sketches. It's really about what you've done.
We call ourselves the next generation of charter schools, because we really want students to be able to develop critical and creative problem solving skills.
We've gotten three design awards because of our notebook and we're really proud of this, it's our biggest accomplishment.
One of the things that we are starting, is being the first teacher-powered school in the state of Arizona.
So that means that we give our teachers autonomy to make decisions that are the best for their students in their classrooms.
We're currently enrolling students. We are going to open in August 2018 and we are hitting the ground running. [video end]
